America’s Only Italian-Themed Water Park

DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, a family-oriented park located in Tipton, Pennsylvania, added the Laguna Splash Water Park in 2016. Laguna Splash is the only Italian-themed water park in America, featuring slides, wave pool, the River Lazio, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

The DelGrosso family decided to add water attractions to the amusement park in 1997 with Tipton Waterworks. But when there was an increased interest in water among parks in the early 2000s, DelGrosso’s expanded their water rides in 2016. DelGrosso’s thought it would be best to have a dry and a wet side of the park. The summer 2022 season will be Laguna Splash’s sixth season of operation.

The idea behind the naming of the water park “Laguna Splash” was simple: Keep it on brand. DelGrosso’s Amusement Park is Italian-oriented because of the family, so the water park needed to be Italian-themed, too. Laguna is Italian for a shallow stretch of water.

Not only is the name Italian-themed, but the attractions are as well. The River Lazio is Laguna Splash’s lazy river. The park also contains a replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which spews water from the top. Carl Crider, the Park President and General Manager at DelGrosso Foods, and Scott Crider, Vice President of Operations, were the main family members to throw around ideas for the new water park.
