Distaff Day at Fort Roberdeau
August 13, 2022 @ 10:00 am – 3:30 pm

Women’s 18th Century Domestic Skills at Fort Roberdeau. Step back into a time when a woman’s hands were never idle – spinning, weaving, knitting, sewing and preserving food. Through demonstrations and presentations, Fort Roberdeau’s Living History Interpreters will engage visitors in learning about the domestic skills 18th century women used to maintain the home and family. We look forward to sharing the day with you. The event’s name is based on a tool used to hold the fibers for spinning – the distaff. Because spinning was woman’s work, the female half of a couple became know as the distaff.
Admission: adults/$6, seniors/$5, children under age 12/$3
